The Hansen Global Forest Change product that has served as a basis for the widely used Global Forest Watch Platform, maps global forest loss (between 2000 and 2019) and gains (between 2000 and 2012) at a spatial resolution of 30 meters. It is the result from time-series analysis of Landsat images generated using multispectral satellite imagery from the Landsat 7 thematic mapper plus (ETM+) sensor, where over 600,000 Landsat 7 images were compiled and analyzed using Google Earth Engine. Due to its importance in the study of forest ecosystem services this database was included in Earth Map (Hansen et al, 2013).
